Some Common Misconceptions About Self Employed Care

01

You have to be registered with CQC to provide care

You cannot register with CQC if you are self employed, only care companies who employ staff can register with regulatory bodies.  As a self employed carer it is deemed as a 'private agreement' between you and the person needing care, therefore is not regulated.

As a self employed carer you are able to administer medication, provide personal care and deliver any other support or care required.  In fact, one of the big joys of being self employed is that you can deliver care and support that is wanted and wished, not just needed, so you can take people out for days out, walk their dog, go to the shops and even change light bulbs!

03

It's hard to find work as a self employed carer

This is one of the biggest issues people worry about when first going self employed!  But it truly is a non issue!  The demand for personalised high quality care is MASSIVE and growing each and every day.  We show you how to position yourself in the market so that work will flow your way.  You just need to make the leap and decide that you want to be your own boss and take control of your career!

02

You can't work for yourself as a carer, you must work for a company.

You can be SELF EMPLOYED as a carer!  Or a support worker or a PA, or whatever term you wish to use!

So just like a plumber or an electrician can offer their services as a self employed business, so can you as a carer.  The only difference being is that care is the service you provide!

Let's bust the myth that you MUST  work for a company if you are a carer!  That is not true!  You CAN be your own boss!  You can be a Self Employed Carer!

And because you cut out the middleman of a care company, you get much better pay (employed carer gets around £9-£13 per hour, a self employed carer gets £20-£25 per hour), as well as the ability to chose your own work schedule, choose who you work with and choose what services you deliver.

04

You can only work on your own if you are self employed

You are able to work alongside a buddy or two and 'co-ordinate' care between you.  As long as the person receiving the care remains in control and is able to have a say as to who helps them, you can totally work with a work buddy.  In fact we recommend that you do find a buddy to work with if you can, so that you can provide a more reliable and flexible service as you are able to share the work load between you and your work buddy.
